# Memory

> Tamo keeps short notes about the lasting things in your life, so you don't have to repeat yourself. Ask what it knows, or tell it to forget something.

Web page: https://heytamo.com/docs/memory/

Tamo remembers the lasting things you'd want an assistant to know: where you live, your
work, the people in your life, your preferences, the services you use, your routines, plans
with dates and decisions you've made. Before it answers, it looks up what's relevant, so
"book my usual haircut" works without you explaining where.

```chat
me: Book me a haircut for Saturday morning, same place as last time
tamo: I'm about to click "Confirm booking" on example-salon.com. Allow?
buttons: Yes, do it | No
tamo: Booked: Saturday at 10:00 with Mert, like last time.
```

## What it keeps, and what it doesn't

Tamo keeps what you told it or clearly confirmed. It doesn't keep:

- passwords, card numbers or codes
- small talk, or the progress of a task
- facts it found on web pages or in files
- guesses

When something changes ("I moved to Berlin"), the old note is replaced with the new one.

## When it remembers

Tell Tamo to remember something and it saves it straight away, and says so. Beyond that, it
goes through the day's conversation once at night and keeps what's worth keeping, so a
detail you mention in passing is remembered by the next morning. It doesn't message you
about those.

## Asking what it knows

Just ask:

```chat
me: What do you know about me?
tamo: You live in Kadıköy, Istanbul, and work as a designer at a small studio. Your sister Elif lives in Izmir. You take your coffee as a flat white, and you're flying to Lisbon on 12 May.
```

## Forgetting

Tell Tamo to forget something ("forget my old address") and it deletes it. You can also
read, search, edit, add and delete memories on the [dashboard](https://heytamo.com/docs/dashboard/), which
shows where each one came from.

## Using it in other AI tools

Claude, Claude Code, Cursor and other apps that speak MCP can read and add to the same
memory. See [Memory in your other AI tools](https://heytamo.com/docs/memory-mcp/).
